How much is sometimes more important than how

1) normally, we will get many ideas but only one out of 100 will work. Example: some people came out with an idea of generating electricity by raindrops using piezoelectric crystal. They even wanted to patent it. But considering the cost of piezoelectric crystal and CALCULATING the total energy that we get from  drops of rain, it was realized that we have to spend thousands of dollars to get one tube light running, that too when there is a heavy rain.
2) In a big R &D center Bangalore, my friend was given a vibration of turbine blade project. From past several years, scientists in that institute were not getting results. My friend used simple highschool mathematics and showed that the approach itself was wrong. I saw big AHA feeling in  scientists. They appreciated him.
3) Try this: try to make a normal person to understand that no one can fold the paper more than 10times easily. He cannot understand. He will always think of taking very thin paper and so on. But when you explain him the power of 2, ie the magnitude of 2^10, then you can see a big AHA FEELING in him.
4) I have had several aha moments when I was reading the book 1,2,3 to infinity. It was because the book explains big scientific concepts through simple mathematics.
